Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State has again
raised a fresh alarm of the massive presence of rebels in some parts of the
state.
The governor, who raised the alarm on Tuesday while
distributing patrol vehicles to security agencies and heads of Ministries,
Departments and Agencies, urged the security operatives not to rest on their
oars pending when all the rebels are disarmed.
Stressing that “we have credible and reliable intelligence
that some rebels have infiltrated and established bases in the state” he is
optimistic that the rebels “will never succeed if every citizen increases their
security awareness, as security is everyone’s patriotic responsibility.”
The governor, who had earlier warned traditional rulers to
desist from playing host to strangers in their domains, said “I have directed
all traditional rulers to be more alert, particularly in reporting strange and
questionable people entering their domains to security agencies for appropriate
action.”
While stressing his administration’s readiness not to cease
from extending the much desired olive branch to the security operatives, the
need for them to as well reciprocate his administration’s efforts, he believed
can no longer be overemphasized.
He said “I urge security agencies to reciprocate by
intensifying intelligence gathering and surveillance in suspected red zones and
swiftly bringing suspected offenders to justice.’
