Troops of the Nigerian Army are currently in a gunfight with
Boko Haram insurgents at Tamsukawu village in Kaga LGA of Borno state.
A military source disclosed that soldiers and insurgents
are currently engaged in a heavy gun battle.
He said the insurgents invaded the town to attack a military
formation in the evening, but that they met stiff resistance from the troops.
There is no certain figure of casualties yet.
The air task force, rapid response squad Team as well as the
troops from super camp, Ngamdu, were said to have been promptly deployed in the
scene of the attack.
The federal government had recently said it was winning the
war against insurgency in the north-east.
Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, in an
interview, had said the surrendering of Boko Haram insurgents shows that peace
is returning to the war-ravaged region.
He added that the military has heightened the “assaults and
attacks” on the insurgents which have enabled it to reclaim more territories.
