Security operatives block Abuja-Keffi road to halt inflow of kidnapers into FCT

Security sources have revealed that the Abuja-Keffi road was blocked by a detachment of fully-armed soldiers on Wednesday to halt the inflow of armed bandits into the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The road blockade is said to be part of the quick response of the Federal Government to keep Abuja a no-go area for kidnappers.

A source at the army check point at the Kugbo Mechanic Village told that a joint security meeting held on Tuesday at the instance of the FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello ordered the action.

The source said that specifically, the sudden roadblock was occasioned by the violent invasion of the University of Abuja senior staff residence during which about three professors were allegedly kidnapped along with some of their family members.

At the time of this update report, the ever busy Abuja-Keffi road is still under firm control of operatives of the Nigerian Army who mounted road blocks against commercial and private commuters.

It was observed that several people who could not give convincing reasons for their trip to the capital city were being turned back.

Meanwhile, several civil servants and artisans who cannot cope with the hectic traffic logjam are gradually returning to their respective homes.
