Cynthia Morgan, the
Nigerian rapper and dancehall artiste, says she knew that Davido’s gesture to
help her in 2020 was not real.
Morgan, who is now known as Madrina, was formerly signed to
Jude Okoye’s Northside Entertainment in the heydays of Psquare.
But the pair fell out and were engaged in a war of words
last year.
Amid the face-off, Davido had asked Morgan to reach out to him for music collaboration.
“Cynthia Morgan call
me. Tell Cynthia I got an anthem for her. I’ll record my verse now,” he had
written on Twitter.
Davido’s gesture had drawn commendations at that time, with
many Nigerians appreciating him for offering to help the Afropop singer.
But during an interactive Instagram
session on Sunday, a fan had asked if she eventually
got assistance from the ‘OBO’ crooner after his tweet.
In her reply, Morgan said she sensed that the gesture was
not a genuine one but decided to play along so that people would not describe
her as being proud.
The ‘German Juice’ singer added that her instinct proved to
be right as the “mouthed collaboration and help” never materialised.
“Omo all those levels na washhh. I tried to give it a
benefit of doubt, played along so make dem no talk say I too get pride, but in
the end I was right! I hope we are done with this particular question since
2020. Make una let me rest oo,” she wrote in a mixture of English and Pidgin.
Last year, Morgan had also claimed the ‘Risky’ crooner
ignored her calls after his tweet.
“After the interview
that I had with Sandra, I did see a tweet where David said ‘Cynthia call Me’
and I did call David but he didn’t take his calls. Sent messages on WhatsApp
but he didn’t reply them,” she had
said.
“It’s just a long story actually…but l don’t know. Even the
record he sent, I made a demo verse of the record and it’s been like three
months we’ve not heard anything from David.”
