Dr John Ogi, a senior lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Benue State University, Makurdi, has claimed that despite the employment crisis bedeviling the country, students who are properly inculcated with the knowledge of mass communication can not be jobless.
In an interview on Monday, the popular lecturer expressed optimism that those completing their first degree programmes today would use their acquired knowledge to create jobs and solve societal problems.
While rejoicing with the outgoing students, Ogi expressed satisfaction that he is sending into the society, refined journalists who would add value to the profession.
He said, “University knowledge is also for creation, if there are no jobs they should use the knowledge acquired to create job openings, become employers of labour and independence through entrepreneurship.
“Mass Communication is one course many professions there, is so much to be explored in journalism and a graduate of mass communication who is stocked well cannot be jobless he or she will only select the job that suits most.
“The journey started, as usual, four years ago and the will of every father is to see his children grow to the next level, this role I have played in the lives of many of them in the past years.
“It gladdens my soul to be sending forth another set of refined journalists that have received the full dose of baptism into the journalism profession as graduates of journalism and mass communication, firebrand, reporters and news writers cum information managers”.
