EPL: Why Conte will not replace Solskjaer at Man Utd

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has explained why Manchester United will not replace their manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Antonio Conte.

Solskjaer’s position at Old Trafford has come under threat as Man United dropped out of the top four on Saturday following their 4-2 defeat to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

His teams have not won in their last three Premier League games, with reports linking Conte, a former Chelsea and Inter Milan coach, to replace the Norwegian at Man United.

However, Neville does not believe Solskjaer’s position at Man United is under threat despite losing to Leicester and has played down links with Conte, who is currently a free agent.

“Conte won’t be the manager at Manchester United I don’t think,” Neville said during an Instagram Live on Sunday.

“I don’t think they will go for that option, personally. He’s a great manager, but I think certain managers fit certain clubs and I don’t think Conte fits United personally.

“As I say, great manager but it doesn’t feel right for me.”

When one viewer suggested, Conte would win the title if given the right squad at Man United, Neville replied: “I’m not into that, giving someone a squad. We tried that with Jose [Mourinho].

“Give Jose a squad and we will definitely win the league, we didn’t [win the league], and in the end it was a mess and everybody wanted him out.”
