As the year is moving gradually to an end, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Audu Adamu Madaki, in charge of Zone 12, Bauchi, has ordered high visibility patrols, stop and search, deployment of police tactical components of patrol teams across the zone, made up of Bauchi and Gombe states.
AIG Madaki gave the order in Bauchi at a one-day workshop on crime prevention strategies organised for senior police officers drawn from Bauchi and Gombe state commands.
A press release made available to newsmen by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), Thomas Goni, informed that Madaki gave the order against the backdrop of increase in capital offences, including kidnapping, armed robbery and banditry during the “ember” months.
“AIG noticed that the most capital offences, such as kidnapping, armed robbery and banditry are significantly higher during ember months. He directed high visibility patrols, stop and search, deployment of police tactical components of patrol teams across the zone,” Goni, a Superintendent of Police (SP), stated.
According to the zonal spokesman, while giving an overview of the workshop, Madaki informed that it was meant to share experiences among participants as well as offer opportunities to take their relationship to even greater levels of trust and intimacy.
“A lack of shared experience can have a massive impact on our performance,” Goni quoted the AIG to have told participants, including Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge Operations, Investigations, Area Commanders, Metropolitan, and Tactical Commanders, Intelligence units from each of the commands.
Madaki, therefore, encouraged participants to be more aware and mindful of themselves, saying that, “this workshop creates opportunity to challenge our thinking to learn new skills particularly in our performance.”
