Pelumi Olajengbesi, one of the Nigeria-based lawyers to
Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho, has rubbished
claims by the Department of State Services, DSS, that armed robbers attacked
its officials.
DSS had claimed that armed robbers attacked its officials
and made away with the files of Igboho’s aides, who are being prosecuted.
Idowu Awo, counsel to the secret police, had informed the
Federal High Court that the case file relating to the human rights enforcement
application filed by Igboho’s aides was hijacked by armed robbers.
Awo said his colleague who had the case filed boarded a
vehicle belonging to armed robbers, commonly known as ‘one chance’ and was
robbed of his belonging, including the case filed.
However, Olajengbesi described the DSS claim as shameful.
In a Facebook post, Olajengbesi wondered what becomes of the
“common man” if a DSS official can be robbed in Abuja.
“We must stop this nonsense in this country. I am sick and
tired. The claim by DSS staff that they were robbed and case file missing on
their way to court is ridiculous and shameful.
“If DSS can be robbed in the city of Abuja, what then is the
fate of the common man. #Sickcountry,” Olajengbesi wrote.
The 12 associates of Igboho had dragged DSS to court for
parading them like criminals after they were arrested.
The aides were arrested during a raid on Igboho’s residence
in Ibadan, Oyo State.
