The youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has commended the Department of State Services, DSS, for allowing Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, access to his family.

It was reported that Kanu’s brother, Mr. Emmanuel Kanu met the IPOB leader on Monday, in the company of his lawyer, Barr. Ejiofor.

In a statement on Wednesday by the President-General of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike he said the DSS had now shown that it is a law abiding organization.

“We are delighted that at last the DSS has respected the order of court with respect to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It is a good way to go as such an important Government agency cannot be seen to be flagrantly disobeying valid order.

“Now that the DSS has take this lawful action, we also ask that it should ensure that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is brought to court on the next adjourned date. This will help in calming the tension created by his absence during the last court hearing,” the youth group said.

It again commended the IPOB leadership for maintaining its stand that sit-at-home remained suspended.

IPOB had in a statement on Tuesday said the suspension of the sit-at-home order sacrosanct.

Reacting, Okwu said, “Now that the IPOB leadership has reiterated the suspension of the every Monday sit-at-home, we urge all the members and supporters to allow people go about their normal businesses.

“This show of maturity on the part of the IPOB leadership is quite laudable and we plead that they continue with that spirit while continue to pursue all possible means to ensure quick release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”
