Renowned Islamic scholar, Ahmed Gumi has identified unity as
a major force in tackling the security crisis currently bedeviling the entire
nation.
Gumi, during a lecture in Kaduna State on Wednesday titled
“Security and National Development”, said the battle is not against any
religion or ethnicity, stating that Nigerians need to come together and tacked
the security challenges.
He said, “The security situation in Nigeria is not about
religion or ethnicity, it is affecting all of us. Nigerians need to come
together as a force to fight this criminals”.
The country has witnessed surge in insecurity in the last
few days following the activities of bandits and other criminal elements
disturbing the peace of the country.
On Tuesday, armed men suspected to be bandits invaded the
Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna, gunned down two military officers and
kidnapped one major.
Same day, unknown gunmen invaded Yelwa Zangam community, Jos
North Local Government Area of Plateau State and slaughtered about 36
residents.
