Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, has accused the
Federal Government of paying less attention to banditry in the north while focusing
on agitators.
Sani accused the Federal Government of placing more priority
on Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Sunday
Igboho, Yoruba Nation agitator.
The former lawmaker lamented that banditry was more of a
security risk than IPOB and Igboho.
He stressed that the north would be a safe place if the
Federal Government fought terrorism with the same energy it used against
seperatists.
“The herdsmen and bandits are carrying arms, unleashing
terror on innocent citizens, but the agitations of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday
Igboho are working towards breaking Nigeria.
“It is a reality that the government has laid more emphasis
on going after separatists than going after terrorists.
“If the government invested a fraction of the energy it
spent going after self-determination separatists to fight terrorists, those of
us in North East Nigeria would have been saved. Fighting banditry and terrorism
are of higher prioritNorth-Eastan going after Nnamdi Kanu or Sunday Igboho,” he
told Sun.
