Sunday Igboho: ‘We pray they attend Yoruba Nation rally’ – FG targets more agitators

The federal government has commenced a full-scale offensive against secessionists including Yoruba agitator Sunday Igboho and others across Nigeria.

Our correspondent was informed of the decision on Friday ahead of the Yourba Nation rally in Lagos on Saturday.

A source close to top federal and security officials said the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has drawn the battle line.

“We pray they come out. I can confirm to you that those of them who had instigated violence or made seditious comments will be arrested and prosecuted.

“The good news is that some of them are wanted, so this will be a good time to apprehend them. The opportunity has presented itself.

“The government has had enough of using secessionist calls to perpetrate chaos. Nigeria is dealing with a lot of problems, we should try to de-escalate tension, not escalate.

“Look at the killings and destruction that have been happening in the South-East and South-West due to break-up demands. What manner of government would watch and do nothing?”, he quipped.

Self-determination Yoruba groups, including Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO) have vowed to hold the rally as scheduled.

The venue, Gani Fawehimi Freedom Park in Ojota, has witnessed the increased presence of security operatives.

On Friday, the Police deployed hundreds of officers and assets that will guard strategic locations in Lagos.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesman said the show of force was “a warning signal to whoever or any group of persons planning to stage any procession or foment troubles in Lagos”.
