Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central during the 8th National Assembly, has lambasted the House of Representatives for refusing to lift the ban placed on the microblogging platform, Twitter by the Federal Government.
Recall that the House of Representatives on Thursday, rejected the lifting of Twitter suspension in Nigeria.
The rejection was against the report of its committee on the issues.
The House was divided as some of the lawmakers seemed to be in support of the suspension placed on the platform by President Buhari barely a month ago.
Reacting to the development, the former lawmaker condemned the decision of the House.
Senator Sani made the remark on Friday morning via a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.
He said, “House of Representatives rejection of the lifting of the ban on Twitter is unfortunate and condemnable.
“This is a disappointing and disgraceful example of legislative support for the executive suffocation of the freedom of expression. They are historically in sync with autocracy”.
