Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the
African Action Congress (AAC), has berated the Attorney General of the
Federation, Abubakar Malami for deactivating his Twitter handle after the
Federal Government’s ban.
Sowore described Malami as a corrupt and incompetent lawyer
for criminally deactivating his Twitter account.
Malami is believed to have used the Virtual Private Networks
(VPN) to access Twitter after the ban by the Federal Government.
Recall that after the ban slammed on Twitter by the Federal
Government took effect on Saturday, Nigerians opted for Virtual Private
Networks (VPN) in a bid to access the platform.
VPN is a key path for digital anonymity in a bid to access
the platform.
However, Malami came out on Saturday and ordered the
immediate prosecution of offenders of the Federal Government ban on Twitter
operations in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Justice
accessed the microblogging platform with the aid of a VPN.
When connected to a VPN, a key or lock icon will appear
within the notification bar indicating that the VPN is connected and Safe
Browsing is enabled.
In the screenshot shared by Malami, there is a key icon on
the left side in the notification bar, indicating that Malami’s phone was
connected with a VPN to access Twitter.
Reacting, Sowore accused the Minister of Justice of birthing
a full fledged dictatorship.
In a post on his verified Facebook, Sowore wrote: “A message
I left for Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of (In)Justice Abubakar
Malami, SAN on his Facebook comment section after he criminally deactivated his
Twitter account;
“A lawless, heartless, corrupt, unjust and incompetent
lawyer saddled with the ministry of justice who doesn’t have an idea what it
means to work for justice.
“An Attorney General that initiated a memo to birth full
fledged dictatorship. Be reminded of what befell your predecessors. You won’t
escape the harsh verdict of history! #RevolutionNow #BuhariMustGo”.
