While embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka popularly known as Baba Ijesha, was arraigned at Magistrate Court 1, Yaba, on Wednesday, his niece is saying proper investigation will not only acquit the actor, but bring vengeance on some people.
Baba Ijesha’s niece, Ewatomilola Ayeni, in a video
interview, pleaded with the government, Nigerians and netizens to investigate
and see that he is not guilty because he is a star, whose friend’s enemy wanted
to tarnish his image.
It would be recalled Baba Ijesha was arrested in April for
allegedly molesting the foster daughter of Princess, a comedian.
The actor confessed to molesting the little girl when she was seven in a video that has since gone viral.
However, Ewatomilola Ayeni, who noted that she had not been
on social media since her uncle was accused of molesting a teenager, said:
"I am not ready to mention names, but what I will say is that vengeance is
coming.
“The government should make sure an innocent person does not
die because of a plot from the wicked people. He is innocent of what happened.
“Let's look at it, someone called and said come, then you
decided to set the camera. All that you instructed the child to do was what she
did; you did not give the accused the opportunity to talk.
“His family can't do anything because we can’t leave him in
pain and be happy. I am not ready to mention names.
“If the accused is guilty, his mother-in-law will not
support him because she is here. Defilement that everyone is shouting happened
seven years ago.
“If only everybody knew what happened to him then. We his
family can't say it out. But if you see a well-dressed person and in films, you
will think he is living a perfect life.
“How many people are we going to tell how it happened? So
this thing has been happening and we have been keeping it a family thing; you
decided to bring it to the public and we are ready.
“You claimed to be a friend, why are you a friend's enemy to
him? When Ijesha wrote WAEC, I drove him down to the place in Ikorodu and you
are talking like Ijesha depends on you.
I am begging the government, Nigerians and social media to
investigate and see that he is not guilty.
“Like Brother Yomi said earlier, if you call a person a
paedophile, you should understand that he will be attracted to children only
and not adult.
“I have lived with him all my life and he has never touched
me. At least, I am a distant family to him.
“He could say we are not born of the same father and mother
he should abuse me, but he never did. He made me the person I am today.
