Mbong Amata denies disappearance, says ex-husband ‘deprived me of child custody’

Mbong Amata, Nollywood actress and ex-beauty queen, has dismissed claims that she is missing.

Jeta Amata, her ex-husband who happens to be a filmmaker, had earlier raised alarm about her whereabouts while also alleging that she hadn’t been in contact with their daughter for a while.

“Can somebody please just ask why Mbong has gone missing from social media all year? No one seems to know anything and it’s affecting my daughter, that no one would tell us,” Jeta had said at the time.

But in a series of videos on Sunday, Mbong cleared the air on what prompted her purported disappearance.

The film star also alleged that Jeta had refused to grant her full-time access to their daughter, relegating her to take up the status of a part-time mother — a situation she said she wouldn’t accept.

“I am perfectly fine, I don’t know why Jeta is looking for me. Why are you looking for me?” Mbong asked.

“I told him if he doesn’t give me full access to my daughter, then I don’t want to be part of it. My ex-husband is going on a rant about my whereabouts like he doesn’t know what happened.

“He fought me to a standstill. I’m not the type who would bring my dirty stuff loins on social media. It is rather unfortunate that we are here.”

Mbong was married to Jeta for five years before their marriage crashed in 2013. She has starred in films like ‘Black November’, ‘Forgetting June’, and ‘Inale’. She won the ‘Most Beautiful Girl’ (Akwa Ibom) in 2003 and was the 2nd runner up in the 2004 Miss Nigeria.

Growing up in the industry, Jeta produced and directed his first film at the age of 21. His work first went global when he produced a documentary for BBC in 2003, using his film ‘Game of Life’ as footage for it.
