Imo: Sacked appointees lobby Gov Uzodinma for reappointment

The recently sacked appointees of the Imo State Government sacked by Governor Hope Uzodinma are reportedly working behind the scenes for their reappointment.

It was gathered that some of them are still working effectively with the Governor despite their disengagement over a month ago.

Our Imo state correspondent said a handful of them still attend government functions and seem not to accept their appointments have been terminated.

However, some of the Governor’s close allies are bombarding him with calls and text messages, begging to be reconsidered for the next batch of appointment.

The sacked Commissioner for Education, Prof. B. T. O Ikegwuoha, was quoted as saying that he was ‘indispensable’ in Uzodinma’s government hence, must be reappointed.

While the former Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Fabian Ihekweme and his counterpart from Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Noble Atulegwu, are using the social media method to gain the Governor’s attention, others have turned to prayer warriors both in their houses and churches to make the second list.

Similarly, the sacked Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Prints, Modestus Nwamkpa, recently posted on his Facebook page that ‘he is still fully in government’.

Meanwhile, members of the public have protested why a sacked Special Adviser on Special Duties, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, could be signing for government releases.

Tension, however, is at its peak as the Governor compiles a fresh list of his new appointees.

The Interim Management Committee chairmen of the 27 LGAs are also living in anxiety that the Governor may lay them off sooner than later.
