Abdulrasheed Bawa, chairman of the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC), says the commission will get those hindering the
progress of Nigeria.
Speaking at a state house press briefing held in Abuja on
Thursday, Bawa said the EFCC is committed to ensuring that Nigeria is free of
all forms of financial and economic crimes.
He said the commission has a “motivated workforce leveraging
on the support of every stakeholder and party both at home and abroad to
deliver on the vision of Nigeria free of all forms of economic and financial
crimes”.
“Nigeria is the only country we have. We are the ones to safeguard it and of course, we need the support of those home and abroad,” he said.
“Please don’t cross the line and do remember that if you are
not one of us taking Nigeria to its promised land, the EFCC will get you
anywhere, anytime.”
While speaking on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television
programme, on Tuesday, the 40-year-old said he has been receiving death threats
since he became the chairman of the anti-corruption agency.
In February 2021, Bawa was named as the EFCC chairman to
replace Ibrahim Magu, the former acting chairman of the anti-graft commission.
