Atiku visits family of late ally, Mama Taraba

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has visited the family of former Minister, Mama Taraba, real name Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan.

The former governorship hopeful in Taraba passed away on May 7 in Cairo, the Egyptian capital.

Atiku, a two-time presidential candidate, said he was saddened by the death of his longtime ally.

“I visited the family of the late Sen. Aisha Al-Hassan and was received by her younger brother, Ibrahim Abubakar and other family members at their Abuja residence.

“Her demise was a huge loss. I stand by her family as they grieve. I pray the Noor of Almighty Allah shines on her face”, the Wazirin Adamawa wrote on Facebook.

Al-Hassan, 61, served as Women Affairs Minister during the first tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mama Taraba ran into trouble after declaring her support for Atiku ahead of the 2019 election which Buhari won.

She later dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ran for governor under the United Democratic Party (UDP).

Months after she lost, Al-Hassan defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In August 2020, she made revelations about her ordeal while in the APC.
