The Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN) has refuted
claims that the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Rev. Fr. Ejike
Mbaka.
During a church programme last Sunday, Mbaka said he
received an invitation from the DSS, asking him to report to Abuja.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC), the Human Rights
Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), among others warned the federal
government against intimidation.
On Friday, AMEN, via its Facebook page, advised members of
the public to disregard news that the secret service picked up the priest.
“Father Mbaka is safe and sound and Adoration Ministry Enugu
Nigeria Program is active.
“Sunday Mass And E No Dey Again are on and Rev Fr, Ejike
Mbaka is always present in all programs”, a statement read.
Last month, Mbaka apologised to the Catholic church after
his superiors admonished him over a recent outburst.
He made controversial comments about President Muhammadu
Buhari, his administration and the state of the nation.
Days later, rumours that the DSS arrested Mbaka caused the
attack on the residence of Callistus Onaga, the Bishop of Enugu.
His supporters damaged the Cathedral Church, the Holy altar
of sacrifice, the Cathedral Parish House and the Secretariat. Onaga, in his
reaction, called for appeasement.
