There appears to be anxiety in Benue over the alleged
killing of some people in Katsina Ala LGA of the state.
There are reports that over 30 people, including students of
the College of Education in Katsina Ala were killed by gunmen.
But reports of the number of those allegedly killed have
varied. The figures of those reportedly murdered have been put at over 100 and
36.
But the reported killings have led to an outrage on Twitter,
a microblogging platform.
Here are some comments.

Why does this keep happening? Why does the government keep allowing this to happen?
The world does not need to see, because the world will never do anything about it.

Benue people should pick up fire arms and defend themselves.
Going forward any body that is attacked should pick up fire arms and fight back.#BenueUnderAttack https://t.co/dgvarnhg7y

We go to Bed waking up to see people slaughtered in cold blood. #BenueUnderAttack
Is this the reward we get seeking for a better Governance?
"We are poor, We have no money neither do we have assets, all we have is our farmlands but why killing us"
It's high time H.E Ortom armed his people. W can't continue to wake up to minority killing majority in this country. We have been speaking against this inhumane only Gods knows when and as usual we still condemn and move on as nothing happens. #EnoughIsEnough#BenueUnderAttack pic.twitter.com/UYHXDepbyr

When contacted on Friday, Catherine Sewuese,
spokesperson of Benue police command, said she has not confirmed the killings.
“I have not been able to confirm that from any of the
officers on the ground because there were no reports,” Sewuese said.
“They have gone out now to trail those areas where these
allegations are coming from because they earlier alleged that 100 persons were
killed. We went and didn’t see any corpse, now they say 32.
“We have deployed men again to go back there. Maybe later in
the day, if I get anything I will let you know.”
Benue has recorded attacks on its communities by gunmen.
Samuel Ortom, Benue governor, had asked residents of the state to protect themselves using weapons not prohibited by law.
