The Chairman Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume, has said
most of the weapons used by Boko Haram terrorists were stolen from the Nigerian
military.
Ndume, who is the Senator representing Borno South said Boko
Haram also gets arms from Chad and Libya.
He disclosed that terrorists resorted to stealing arms from
the military due to their desperation to hold on to territories in the
Northeast.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the
lawmaker said the current army is turning the heat on the terrorists.
“The insurgents now are desperate in getting arms and
ammunition and the arms they use are the ones they succeeded in carting away
from Nigerian soldiers and other security forces.
“I know that small arms are coming from Libya and Chad but
the bulk of equipment they use are the ones they succeeded in stealing from our
armed forces”, he said.
