Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social
Media, Lauretta Onochie has blamed leaders in the South-East for the current
security crisis rocking the region.
Onochie who stated this via a tweet on her verified Twitter
handle on Friday claimed the inability of the leaders to caution the youths
against crimes caused the killings.
The president’s aide was reacting to the recent attack in
Orlu, Imo State where about eight suspected members of the Indigenous People of
Biafra, IPOB were killed.
Hoodlums suspected to be
members of the IPOB, attacked the police divisional headquarters on Thursday
night.
The joint security operatives who engaged the hoodlums in a
gun duel killed eight of the attackers and recovered seven vehicles.
Reacting, Onochie said the South-East leaders only attack
the president but fail to instil value in their youths.
“Where are Igbo Leaders? Why are they Silent? Misguided ones
among Ndigbo are turning your Homeland into a battleground
8 Mothers are crying today.
8 Fathers are Crying today.
Many Aunts are crying today, Uncles too.
Many children, nieces, nephews, friends too.
“Many Igbo leaders condemn daily, a President who has
favoured Ndigbo more than any other ethnic group in Nigeria.
“Their hatred provided a fertile ground for the current
insecurity in the SE.
“Please recall the brainwashed youths you manipulate into
untimely deaths”, the tweet reads.
