The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has reacted to the
killing of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.
AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima warned that the
presence of the terrorist groups involved in Shekau’s death still poses a
threat to Nigeria.
Speaking with Dailypost, Shettima urged the government to
ensure adequate security in the Northeast.
He said “Both groups are not a good signal for the country,
it’s not a thing to be welcomed.
“Shekau’s death and ISIS involvement is not a good signal to
the country.
“However, since one is gone we expect a few threat and the
government should be up and doing and do the needful, both groups are threats.”
Reports had it that Shekau was killed during a clash between
his men and fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Shekau was said to have blown himself up to avoid being
captured alive during the clash.
Nigerian military and
intelligence agencies are aware of Shekau’s death.
