Insecurity: Presidency discloses date for delivery of Tucano fighter jets to Nigeria

The Presidency has affirmed that the United States, US, would deliver six Super Tucano light attack aircraft to Nigeria in mid-July.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, disclosed that the six are part of the 12 jets to be delivered to Nigeria by the US.

He also disclosed that 14 personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, are currently in Georgia for training on how to deploy the jets.

Shehu disclosed this in his verified Twitter handle.

“Test flight operations for @NigAirForce newly acquired Super Tucano combat aircraft.

“Six of the 12 Super Tucanos are on track to arrive in mid-July 2021. With the remaining six shortly after that. There are 14 Nigerian pilots currently training at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia,” he tweeted.
