The Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure has rescheduled its judgement on the October 20 governorship election in the state for today.
The judgement on the petition filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, against the winner of the election, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress, was earlier scheduled to hold on Wednesday 21, 2021 but was rescheduled to hold today.
It was gathered that the tribunal adopted the electronic method to deliver the judgement due to the strike action embarked upon by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, who are demanding financial autonomy for the judicial arm of government.
A notice sent to the parties involved in the case on Monday evening by the secretary of the tribunal, says today’s tribunal judgement would be passed through the zoom and not in a regular court.
The notice read, “Take notice that judgment in petition NO: EPT/AK/GOV/1/2020 between Eyitayo Olayinka Jegede, SAN and INEC & 3ORS which was earlier fixed for 21st April 2021 has been re-scheduled to tomorrow being 20th April 2021 by 10am prompt through zoom.
