The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has said
three members of the Oodua People’s Congress who were part of the team that
arrested suspected notorious kidnapper, Iskilu Wakili, have been arraigned in
court by the police.
Adams, who said this while speaking at a meeting of Yoruba
leaders in Ibadan on Wednesday, said while Wakili who has been accused of
killing about 25 persons was charged with offences which he said were bailable.
He stated with dismay that the three OPC members who were
part of those who rushed their lives to arrest Wakili were charged with murder
and arson which he said were more serious.
The Coordinator of the OPC on Oyo State, Mr Rotimi Olumo, also said that the three OPC members have been arraigned.
He said, “They were arraigned and they have been clamped in
prison.”
Members of the OPC and some vigilantes had on March 7 captured
Wakili who residents of Ibarapa have accused of killing, rape and other
atrocities.
The residents raised alarm on many occasions and called on
security agencies to arrest the Fulani herder and his lieutenants but nothing
was done until the OPC men moved him and captured the suspect.
Wakili was arraigned on Tuesday and was ordered to be
remanded in prison custody .
