Nothing wrong with Super Eagles travelling to Benin by boat —Pinnick

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has said he sees nothing wrong with the Super Eagles travelling by boat to the Benin Republic for an African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Coach Gernot Rohr had said the team would most likely go by boat to avoid the bad roads that link Nigeria and the neighbouring Benin Republic.

“But because the road is not good between Lagos and Cotonou, we will travel to the match on a boat because the crossing only lasts two hours, instead of many hours on poor roads,” he said.

This raised concerns among the players.

However, Pinnick who appeared on ARISE News programme, The Morning Show, on Wednesday said he sees nothing wrong with going by boat.

“Going to Cotonou by boat, I do that all the time. When we were going to inspect we did it. There is nothing wrong with exploring other forms of adventure in Nigeria,” Pinnick said.

He, however, said the NFF is yet to conclude on the means of transporting the players for the AFCON game.

The AFCON qualifier against Benin Republic has been fixed for Saturday, March 27 in Port Novo.
