Jason Njoku, CEO of IrokoTV, says he pays more than N4.6
million for his three-year-old child who attends a Montessori school.
Njoku brought the revelation to light on Wednesday while
reacting to a Twitter post bordering on the cost of education in Nigeria.
The Montessori education is a child-centered system which
allows pupils to explore their different potentials through various practical
measures.
The conversation had started after a user on the
microblogging platform shared a screenshot of a boarding school’s provisional
bill totalling N4,643,901.
Although the user acknowledged the standard of the school
located in Epe area of Lagos state, he expressed concern over the amount paid
by students.
Reacting to the tweet, Njoku said such fee is cheap for a
boarding school, noting that people pay more than that in other countries.
The IrokoTV boss added that most Nigerians do not realise
that they pay less for things when compared to their counterparts in other
African countries.
“Most Nigerians don’t realise but most things in Nigeria are
actually super cheap by African (forget global standards),” he wrote.

For Tier 1 education in Africa (forget about globally) this for boarding school is cheap. I pay more for my 3-year olds montessori school. https://t.co/re0hIPwY5V
