Buba Galadima, an estranged political associate of President
Muhammadu Buhari, has said Nigerians should reject both Atiku Abubakar of the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives
Congress, APC, if they fall short of expectations.
Galadima was reacting to calls by some Nigerians asking
Atiku and Tinubu to bury their presidential ambition and allow the youths to
run in 2023.
Speaking with Dailypost, Galadima stressed that both Atiku
and Tinubu reserved the right to run for the country’s highest political
office.
He said: “Which part of the constitution stops any Nigerian
from running for an elected office, either by age, tribe, religion, or where
you come from. If they are Nigerians, they are free to run, but you reject
them.”
The former National Secretary of the Congress for
Progressive Change party, CPC, also claimed that the APC would force its way
into power.
Galadima pointed out that APC would try to use what it has
to forcefully retain power in 2023.
He said: “Buhari’s party can still win or prevail during
elections because they are not thinking of ordinary people voting for who they
want but just trying to use what they have to force their way into power.
“Unless we all stand up to say no that our votes must count
like they are doing in Myanmar, then they can have their way. They are doing
this because they know the vote of the people doesn’t count; therefore, we
don’t matter; our opinions don’t matter; our lives and properties don’t matter.
“Look, the man(Buhari) has told us before the election that
he won’t sign the electoral law because it’s too close to the election, which
was not true but we all accepted it.
“I shouted, but nobody supported my view, and he told us
that to let the man who wins the election sign the electoral law; now it is two
years and he has refused to sign the electoral law.
“They are not even talking about it which means that they
would not amend the law and still use the old law since 2010 and nobody is
talking, so what do you expect? Garbage in garbage out.”
