Adamu Abache, Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders
Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Ekiti says criminal members will be exposed
henceforth.
He spoke on Thursday in Ado Ekiti at a security meeting
organised by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for ethnic
nationalities.
Abache announced that MACBAN had banned the use of underaged
cattle rearing in the state.
The leader said he already directed members to name any
herdsman found involved in criminal acts.
Abache lamented the stigmatisation of MACBAN members and
promised to protect the integrity of herders doing legitimate businesses.
“I have ordered my people to expose any herder or group of
herders found perpetrating criminality. Fulani herdsmen living in Ekiti are for
peace and are law-abiding.
“We will continue to support the present administration in
the state. The government should help us by providing identification cards for
all our members.
“Government should make it mandatory for all the Fulani
herdsmen living in Ekiti to register. Bio-data should be done through our local
government heads”, he said.
PCRC State Chairman, Sunday Makinde, noted that
herders-farmers’ clashes, kidnapping, banditry, rape and others would be
tackled easily if ethnic groups assist the government and security agencies.
