Aisha Yesufu, popular activist has said the nomination of
ex-Service Chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari shows “fear of persecution for
their action.”
Buhari had on Thursday forwarded the names of the immediate
past Service Chiefs to the Senate as non-career Ambassadors-Designate for
confirmation.
The nomination of immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt.
Gen. Tukur Buratai and other ex-service chiefs as Non-career Ambassadors has
been met with criticisms from Nigerians.
Some quarters insinuated that the nomination is a plan to
grant immunity and shield the ex-service chiefs from International Court crime,
ICC.
Yesufu, who is a co-convener of BringBackOurGirls, BBOG,
advocacy group, criticized the appointment on her Twitter page.
She queried Buhari for nomination of the ex-security chiefs
despite failure during their tenures.
According to her, the nomination shows Buhari does not rate
Nigerians and has neglected the call for justice of those “killed by their
incompetence.”
Her tweet read: “It seems with all the bravado, there is
fear of prosecution and so immunity by all means. Otherwise, why is Buhari
rewarding the failure of the ex-service chiefs with ambassadorial appointments?
“What am I missing? What about the people killed by their
incompetence & brutality?
“He absolutely does not rate us at all. As in the see finish
no be here. The impunity from the incompetent, clueless, corrupt, inept and
failure Buhari is unbelievable.”
