Dino Melaye called out for wearing ‘fake luxury watches’

Fake Watch Buster (FWB) has called out Dino Melaye, a former senator representing Kogi west, for allegedly flaunting two “fake” luxury watches on his social media.

FWB is an Instagram page that targets prominent figures who wear wristwatches that are fake and post them online while tagging the affected persons.

It does this by posting the version of the particular wristwatch considered fake while highlighting its similarities and differences with the original one.

Melaye, who is well known for his flamboyant lifestyle, had taken to his social media page last year to share two of his luxury watch collections.

In the pictures dated January 17 and December 27, Melaye was seen sporting the RM053 Pablo Mac Donough Tourbillon and MP-05 La Ferrari respectively.

But on Wednesday, FWB christened the former lawmaker’s two wristwatches as “fake version”.

The Instagram page, which has nearly 130,000 followers, added that Melaye also owns several other wristwatches that “are looking sketchy.”

“@dinomelaye we just want to let you know that you’re wearing a fake @richardmille RM053 Pablo Mac Donough Tourbillon and a fake @hublot MP-05 La Ferrari,” it wrote.

“He own also many other watches and them are looking sketchy as well.. A genuine @richardmille RM053 Tourbillon is limited to only 15 pieces worldwide and the list price for it at the time of release, was over $630K.

“A genuine @hublot MP-05 La Ferrari is limited to only 50 pieces worldwide and is worth approx $390K.”

The anonymous page said it arrived at its conclusion after subjecting the features of the watches worn by Melaye to multiple checks.

“Disclaimer: I don’t know if the subjects of my posts are aware of wearing fake watches. All of the features shown are based on multiple checks and, in case of ambiguity, external experts are also consulted. We distance ourselves from any form of bullying.”

Melaye is yet to reply to the claims as of the time of this report.
