Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has vowed to
bring his counterpart in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki back to the All Progressives
Congress, APC.
Akeredolu who disclosed this on Wednesday pledged to do all
within his power to bring Obaseki back into the APC fold from the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP.
Akeredolu made the vow during his inauguration for a second
term in office in Akure, the state capital.
Obaseki had defected from the APC to the PDP in the buildup
to the Edo 2020 governorship election after he was denied the ruling party’s
ticket in the primary election due to intra-party wranglings.
He was subsequently re-elected as Governor of Edo State after
defeating the APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, in the September 19, 2020
governorship poll.
During his speech, Akeredolu specially thanked Obaseki for
making it down to Akure for his second term inauguration.
