Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has revealed that goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, felt the referee was wrong to award Burnley a penalty during their 1-0 Premier League defeat on Thursday night.
Burnley defeated Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield, thanks to Ashley Barnes’ late penalty.
Barnes won the penalty for the visitors after Becker appeared to have made contact with the striker, but the Brazilian shot-stopper says there was no contact.
“We had the ball a lot, created some and did not finish the situations off,” Klopp said at the post-match press conference after the game.
“That keeps the game open, and then they get the penalty – Alisson told me he didn’t touch him, but I didn’t see it back.”
The defeat against Burnley means Liverpool are now in the 4th position on the Premier League table with 34 points from 19 matches.
The Reds will face Manchester United in the FA Cup in their next fixture on Sunday.
