Dangote Group has announced the completion of the
Obajana-Kabba concrete road, located in Kogi state.
It is said to be Nigeria’s longest rigid pavement project.
The group, in a statement on Sunday, said the 43km
Obajana-Kabba Road has been described by motorists as the country’s most
strategic highway that is aiding travel between the north and the south.
Olatunbosun Kalejaiye, the project director, expressed his
excitement over the delivery of the corporate social responsibility (CSR)
project.
Samuel Obosi, the site engineer, assured that the dual
carriageway would be durable and less susceptible to potholes and repairs like
asphalt roads, thereby reducing the incidence of road accidents in the country.
On his part, Idowu Senibi, Bajana of Obajana Land, said:
“Dangote is our son. We would protect his huge investment and gigantic concrete
road. I am happy that this is happening in my lifetime and in my kingdom”.
“This is a great opportunity for us and many generations to
come. Our society will be opened as you can see vehicles and commercial
activities have started coming up. May God Almighty bless Dangote and all his
staff.”
Frederick Balogun, the traditional head of Akpata land,
commended Aliko Dangote, president of Dangote Group, for his contributions to
the community such as the Obajana Cement Plant (OCP) which has “brought a total
turnaround” to the lives of residents.
Timothy Omonile, king of Okebunku Land in Kabba Bunu local
government area, said the construction of the road has helped cut down the rate
of criminality in the state.
He charged other philanthropists to emulate Dangote in
developing Nigeria’s economy and infrastructure.
