Mr Macaroni, a Nigerian comedian,
has put out a skit wherein he hit back at critics who called him an ingrate for
claiming the federal government has done nothing for him.
The entertainer, whose real name
is Debo Adebayo, had earlier been the subject of heated criticism after he
questioned the Nigerian government’s relevance by claiming they have not done
anything for him since birth.
On Monday, Macaroni released the
latest episode of his web series where he subtly took it out with his social
media assailants.
In the video, which came as a solo project, Macaroni is seen arguing out the same point with a younger version of himself, who had made a similar claim about the government.
The older Macaroni, who played a
father, goes ahead to defend the government by making reference to the
luxuries, amenities, and privileges that marked his own youth days in the
1970s.
However, his son was quick to
debunk his assertions in a conversation that ended with him discerning between
basic amenities that are imperative and capacity-building initiatives that
enhance living standards.
The young man goes ahead to point
out that a nationwide strike action had brought Nigeria’s university system to
a standstill after his father dismissed his argument by ordering him to go
prepare for school.

Macaroni’s satirical video comes on the back of his active
involvement in the recent street and social media protests against police
brutality in the country.
