Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola and his Police Affairs
counterpart, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, visited former Lagos State Governor,
Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday.
Tinubu is the National Leader of the All Progressives
Congress (APC).
Also on the delegation were paramilitary chiefs in Lagos.
They include State Commissioners, Commandants of Nigeria
Police, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS)
and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The meeting was part of Stakeholders Engagement on Internal
Security and Conflict Resolution in Lagos.
At a separate event attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu,
Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, among others,
Aregbesola advised young Nigerians to use digital revolution to acquire new
skills.
In his speech, titled, ‘Lagos is the destiny of our race’,
the former Osun State Governor described the youths as “the pride and glory of
any people”.
“We must understand that youths are a unique demography.
People under the age of 25 constitute 45% of global population, while they are
60% in Africa and the Middle East”.
He said the engagement was convened to proffer lasting
solution to security challenges in Lagos and Nigeria, promote unity, enhance
socio-economic development in the wake of the End SARS protest, among others.
Aregbesola assured that President Muhammadu Buhari’s
administration was working towards adequate security nationwide, and urged all
citizens to support government efforts.
