EFCC quizzes Fowler over N100 Billon alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has quizzed former Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Tunde Fowler over allegation of N100 billion tax evasion levelled against Alpha Beta Consulting.

Apha Beta is believed to be owned by the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Fowler was invited by the EFCC and he was said to have responded and is still being grilled by the commission over the matter.

Dapo Apara, former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Alpha Beta Consulting, had accused the firm of tax fraud to the tune of N100 billion.

A petition written by Apara in 2018 said Alpha Beta had become an avenue for official corruption of government officials, a conduit pipe for massive money-laundering scheme, tax evasion, among other vices.

Wilson Uwujaren, spokesperson of the EFCC confirmed that Fowler was invited by the commission and that he is still with the commission responding to questions.

  1. Potential dividend of
#EndSARS if the process is allowed to genuinely run through. Hope EFCC probe will not be a smokescreen that will end up shielding the owners of Alpha Beta. By the way why did it take the EFCC over two years to start this enquiry? Are they being compelled to do so because it is common knowledge and this corruption is now in the public domain? We will be watching to see if it will be another charade this regime are known for.
