The National Association of University Students (NAUS) have
protested to the National Assembly over the endless strike by the Academic
Staff of Union of Universities (ASUU).
Also, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), a body
of Nigerian youths routed a letter which the content was not disclosed through
the Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Senatorial district who addressed the protesters on behalf of the Senate
President disclosed on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday in Abuja that their
grievances would be addressed while thanking them for their maturity.
The lawmaker who spoke on the point of order explained how
the Senate leadership had engaged ASUU leadership which he said were almost
reaching a compromise.
He told Senators that students were tired of staying at home
for a long time due to the ASUU strike.
According to Senator Sabi, “The protesting students were at
the National Assembly to seek lawmakers’ intervention in ASUU strike because
they have been away from school for over a year now.”
Reacting, Senate President Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan agreed to
submit the letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.
ASUU, a body of lecturers in the Nigerian Universities has
resisted FG’s IPPIS salary payment system, preferring their own designed UTAS
platform.
