Manchester United head coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has told
attacking midfielder, Donny van de Beek that he plans to play him in the number
10 role for the Red Devils.
Van de Beek is on the brink of completing his move to Old
Trafford after Man United and Ajax agreed a £40.3 million deal on Sunday.
The 23-year-old completed his medicals on Monday in
Amsterdam, after he was given permission to leave the Dutch national team camp.
According to Algemeen Dagblad, Solskjaer had a conversation
with Van de Beek last Friday, and during their talks, the Norwegian gaffer told
the Netherlands international that he primarily plans to play him in the No.10
role.
The Dutch newspaper reports that Solskjaer’s vision and the
idea of playing in an advanced midfield role helped convince Van de Beek to
make a move to Man United.
Van de Beek scored 28 goals and registered 24 assists in 118
Eredivisie appearances for Ajax.
He also drew the interest of Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid,
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the past.
