Tolu Ogunlesi, special assistant on digital/new media to
President Muhammadu Buhari, has asked Shehu Sani, a former senator, to embark
on a personal strike action.
The former senator had posted a picture on Twitter on Sunday
with the caption, “stocking for the national strike”, but the planned
nationwide protest did not hold.
After a meeting with the federal government in the early
hours of Monday, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress
(TUC) had suspended the strike which was scheduled to begin later in the day.
The NLC and TUC had called for a nationwide strike to
protest against the increase in electricity tariff and the price of petrol.
In response to Sani’s post, Ogunlesi asked good samaritans
to arrange a personal strike for the former senator and make his dreams come
true.
“Just one more thing. Maybe good samaritans can arrange a
personal ‘national strike’ for him alone,” Ogunlesi said.
“Since strike is hungrying [sic] the distinguished. Nobody
will sell food or petrol to him, no airline will carry him, no bank will let
him in. Etc. Let’s make his dreams come true.”
The former senator, however, described the presidential aide
as a troublesome person.
“Mallam Alhaji Tolu Ogunlesi Seriki wahala of Aso,” Sani
said in response.
