Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has
congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan
after both leaders met in Mali to engage in further consultations towards
finding a political solution to the crisis in the West African nation.
NigerianEye recalls that Buhari and Jonathan met in Bamako,
Mali on Thursday where they will confer with ECOWAS heads led by President
Issoufou Mahamadou of Niger Republic.
Jonathan had on Tuesday briefed Buhari after his initial
trip to Mali.
He visited the State House, Abuja, in the company of
President of ECOWAS Commission, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou.
Jonathan, Buhari, Presidents Machy Sall of Senegal, Nana
Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire and ECOWAS Special
Envoy are asking Mali President, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, to step down.
The United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), African Union
(AU), and ECOWAS, had condemned the government’s use of lethal force.
Reacting to the development, Fani-Kayode in a tweet on his
official Twitter page on Friday, said he was glad to see Buhari and Jonathan
working together on the Malian crisis.
He said: “I am glad to see that @MBuhari & @GEJonathan
are working together on the Mali issue & that they are making progress.
“That is what building bridges is all about & putting
Nigeria first.
“I sincerely hope that this joint approach to important
issues will continue. Congrats to them both.”
