Recently retrenched workers in
Southern Kaduna on Monday urged Governor Nasir El-Rufai to fear God and pay
their entitlements.
The retrenched workers, under the
auspices of “Compulsory Retired Civil Servants in Southern Kaduna”, made the
appeal on Monday in a statement signed by their Zone 3, Chairman, Comrade
Markus Mathew Adankat.
They decried what they called
impromptu retirement of civil servants, stressing that, “this is the second
year that over 5,000 civil servants in Southern Kaduna Senatorial zone were
laid off.
“Apart from primary school
teachers and local government staff, many of our members were compulsorily
retired from other state owned ministries and parastatals for just no cause.”
“While we remain loyal to the
government, we equally want the governor to have the fear of God and pay us our
legitimate benefits,” Adankat added.
