The Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) charged Babachir Lawal, former secretary to the government of
the federation, to court on Wednesday.
The commission also charged Ayo
Oke, former director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), to
court over $43 million found in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos.
As expected, Nigerians are
commenting on social media. Here are some reactions from Twitter:
Because of his infamous ethno-religious & partisan bigotry, Buhari penned a rejection to Senate's recommendations on Babachir Lawal, the grasscutter thief who stole from helpless IDPs, but is today talking about morality in Onnoghen's case?

Justice delayed is justice denied. @MBuhari why didn’t you use the urgency you used on justice Onnoghen on Babachir Lawal? https://t.co/QBx7cvE82M— ije1 (@ije12002) January 30, 2019
They had to wait for 25months before charging Babachir Lawal to court? Wow! Just wow!....Gandollar will be March 2021— Legend f Awesomeness (@jimsky_debbie) January 30, 2019
The problem is not delayed implementation of the law but following through and ensuring the law takes effect. Eventually, Babachir Lawal & Ayodele Oke will face the courts. Kudos to @officialEFCC for working diligently but patiently to ensure this case is followed through.— Adamu Garba II (@adamugarba) January 30, 2019

Waiting for the usual suspects to read hidden meaning into Babachir Lawal finally being charged to court...— Mr. Aye Dee (@MrAyeDee) January 30, 2019
Either way, #KudosPMB, the wheels of justice might turn slowly, but they do turn...
After 25 months of slumber, the EFCC grudgingly files a 10-count charge against Babachir Lawal, the former secretary to the government of the federation.— Ezera Emetu (@MallamEzera) January 30, 2019
How many weeks to the elections again? pic.twitter.com/neExXZlfLd
NEWS: EFCC Charges Babachir Lawal to Court..... But Wailers won't say it is a bad timing because it is election period simply because he is not a PDP member.— Your Village People (@Onyema_Donald) January 30, 2019
Babachir Lawal court charge is a distraction of illegal removal of Onoghen. It was done to douse the tension generated by Onnoghen removal.— Voice Crying Out (@ogechime1) January 30, 2019
We can now rest small with 'charge Babachir Lawal and Oke people', I know they would say is because of election but so far the corrupt are being prosecuted. I have no time to sympathise with thieves, others should get ready cuz their time in court is near.— Enetomhe Stephen (@Aloyebaba) January 30, 2019

EFCC Charges Babachir Lawal To Court
ME: Very good
WAILERS : They are very happy, but if Babachir is a PDP remember, it's a wrong timing.
Why now?
Is it not close to the election?
Is Buhari not one-sided?
They will call US, EU, SA, and HELL...
How Buhari and his goons suddenly wake up few days to election and remember Babachir Lawal was indicted in a corruption case. 😂😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/GfbC0VNnZt— | #Happy2019 🙏🏾| (@LifeOfOneX) January 30, 2019
At last, @Babachir Lawal will appear in court for his corruption allegation. Political office holders will not cease to take us for granted until we genuinely hold them to account for their actions and inactions in office.— LABBY OWOBOYE LABBY (@labby_owoboye) January 30, 2019
These guys don't rate us.— Chijioke Okeke (@chijiokeke) January 30, 2019
Finally, Babachir Lawal Prosecuted! As much as it is good, it's an obvious attempt to distract us from the latest Onnoghen issue.
Prosecute all you want, we are getting rid of @MBuhari next month.
Biko nye m Limote, ka m nene #NgTheCandidates#Lifeless
Dear General @mbuhari Since 2017 Babachir Lawal has not been prosecuted for the monies stolen however in less than a month you have acted most speedily in the act of prosecuting and suspending the CJN.— Adedunmade Esq. (@adedunmade) January 25, 2019
I gues your fight against corruption does not extend to those around you.

Meanwhile, it took only 3days to arraign CJN Onnoghen at d CCT. So much for a govt that is fighting corruption!— Free Deji Adeyanju (@talk2smat) January 30, 2019
