Former Vice President and
presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku
Abubakar, has finally signed the 2019 General Elections Peace Accord.
Atiku signed the document in the
full glare of members of the Peace Committee headed by a former Head of State,
Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), in Abuja on Wednesday.
He was accompanied to the
ceremony by the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus and other party
stalwarts.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on
Tuesday alongside over 68 other presidential candidates while signing the peace
agreement assured that he will uphold the highest standard of conduct and
ensure a peaceful 2018 election.
The Peace Accord is an
undertaking by all the presidential candidates to ensure peaceful and
rancour-free campaigns before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
