I regret joining APC - Atiku laments

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has apologised for joining the groups, who came together to form the All Progressives Congress.

He said the apology had become necessary because of the sufferings Nigerians had been subjected to in the last three and half years from a party he played a role in bringing to power.

Atiku, who spoke on Thursday in Yola, Adamawa State, during a town hall meeting with residents of Jimeta, described the APC as an assembly of ‘elements’ that came together to defraud the country.

He said the party had failed in changing the fortunes of Nigerians for good.

He said, “I regretted being a part of the party which never deemed it fit to fulfil all of the promises it made to Nigerians.

“If I had known that the APC would be such a colossal failure and disgrace, I would never had joined the party.

“The APC has failed to fulfill even one of the promises it made to Nigerians. The APC is simply an assembly meant to defraud Nigerians.”

Speaking further, the former Vice-President said that the country would not survive another four years if the APC was returned to power in 2019.

  3. The PDP you stayed for 16 years, what was your achievement, apart from selling government assets to cronies that eventually caused youth unemployment. Presently, you're planning to sell 90% of NNPC, should you be voted as Nigeria president. Isn't that another unemployment strategy. Besides, stop deceiving the masses with 'Restructuring', while your type of restructuring has not been totally shown to the masses. The type of restructuring the masses want is structural and economic restructuring which will give more power to States and less to the centre. Your apology shouldn't be joining the APC, rather your role as a vice president for 8years under Obasanjo and, one more thing, have you amended your ways nationally and internationally as advice by Obasanjo, because, he wrote that you're fantastically corrupt. How far with the US money laundering case? Have you been able to clear your name? Because, the last I checked, Jefferson spent years in prison as your paddy in crime.
