Offa Descendants Union (ODU), an
umbrella association of indigenes of Offa ancient town in Kwara state, has
charged the Nigeria police to be thorough in its investigation of the Offa bank
robbery incident to ensure equity and justice.
The ODU president, Alhaji Najeem
Yasin, and the secretary-general, Hadjia (Chief) Wosilat Tinuke Macarthy, made
the call in reaction to the implication of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki,
in the case.
The Nigeria Police had on Sunday,
invited Saraki for questioning over his alleged involvement in the Offa bank
robbery attack in Kwara State.
However, Yasin, in a statement,
noted that Saraki had always considered Offa as a second home, while calling on
media outfits to validate reports being disseminated to the public.
“The community, therefore, holds the Senate
President in high esteem, however, this is not to distract or disturb the
investigation by the police,” the union said.
