Aisha Yesufu, the co-convener of
Bring Back out Girls group has said that killings have become a norm in Nigeria
following silence from President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
She revealed that not one tribe
was responsible for killings in most parts of the country as killers were in
all tribes, which was a pitiable situation that must be stopped.
So far, the Fulani herdsmen have
been blamed for killings and attacks in Benue, Taraba, among other States.
Aisha in a series of tweets
queried Buhari’s government over its failure in arresting perpetrators of
killings.
This was in reaction to recent
Borno blast which left five dead as well as the Gboko attack.
She wrote “Oh Lord have mercy.
What sort of barbarism is this? So now it’s a crime to look certain way or
speak certain language or be from certain tribe? When would we realise it’s not
tribe killing people but killers killing people and they are in all tribes This
is heartbreaking
“We must never allow atrocities
to become the norm in Nigeria. It’s not normal. 3 bomb blasts in Borno. This is
deadly. People pulled out of car in motorpark and set ablaze in broad daylight
because of their tribe is even more deadlier. What the heck is going on?
“How can citizens be killed in
broad daylight and they get away with it? It happened before, this must not be
allowed to happen with the killers.
“Just hearing of the way 7 people
were killed in broad daylight because of their tribe and I ask are we humans in
this country anymore? For how long would we continue to allow people behave in
this barbaric manner and get away with it This is not acceptable Justice must
be served
“How?! These killers that are in
all tribes must be fished out. A killer is a killer irrespective of his tribe.
There is no justification to take another’s life. How gruesome. Where is the
government? Does Nigeria still have a government? Innocent people just killed.”
