The President of the Omega Fire
Ministries worldwide (OFM), Apostle Johnson Suleman, has lent his voice to the
burning issue on tithing stoked by an OAP, Daddy Freeze.
“Let it be clear that if anyone
is not a pastor, he has no right to attack a pastor on church issue. He should
leave everything to God. I only laugh. Somebody who is not a doctor cannot
teach a certified doctor how to go about doing his job; he will just be laughed
at. Someone who is not a journalist can’t teach a true journalist how he should
do his work; they will just be laughing at him.
I wouldn’t have spoken on the
issue but you don’t argue with a man whose mind is already made up on any
issue. It is futile. And I’m not going to confuse anybody to pay tithe, no. if
you attend my church and you decide not to pay tithe, it’s left to you. In my
church they don’t pay me allowance. I live on my personal businesses and I
write books. So far, I have written 52 books that are inspirational and I’m
still writing. If you write books that are inspirational, believers and
non-believers will buy. It is not as if it is only church members that buy
pastors’ books. That alone is enough to sustain any pastor. So, you don’t just
jump to criticize any pastor for buying private jets of expensive cars because
you think it is tithe that they use to buy them.
If you asked me, there is nothing
wrong with tithing. But tithes should be used by pastors to maintain
Christianity, assist the poor in the church, the vulnerable and the stranded.
Not that everything should go into the pastor’s pocket, that’s wrong. Every
pastor should be on allowance.
That young man does not deserve a
response; in fact, I’m not talking because of him but because my Papa, Pastor
Adeboye had spoken, I’m speaking on the issue. Now, if it requires that we go
into a debate, let’s have it. Yes, your tithe is not a license to make heaven
but it is an acknowledgment of God’s mercy in your life. But because Papa
Adeboye corrected the wrong notion and the young man dared to respond to him, I
felt it was insulting. This is not about sentiment or emotion, it is about
commonsense. You don’t respond to an elder in certain manner, especially a man
of Pastor Adeboye’s standing.
There are things people shouldn’t
just dabble into especially when it is not their field. Even if you mobilize
the whole world against tithing, you will only end up being counterproductive
because this is not your field. Men of God do not need to react to such issues
because like I said earlier, once somebody has made up his mind on a position,
nobody should argue with such a man. My reaction to such a man is, if that is
your position, keep it, continue with what you believe but don’t confuse people
to believe what you believe.”

DeleteAnonymous 6:56, may God have mercy on you. When you are judging gospel ministers, first of all run a check on your own life. My candid advise is; the path you are tredding on is dangerous. Don't ignorantly get yourself entangle with God's on affairs. The outcome is always fatal.

Compare these with Leaders of Other Churches and their Personal Wealth:
Pope Francis $0 ( Catholic)
Justin Welby $0 ( Anglican)
All other Leaders of Orthodox Churches have, at most, one home where they live , except Pope Francis who has no personal home .
This is what our tithes has summed up to...making them millionaires in usd.

I don't support tithing. Its biblical but not for Christians. However, I need to say that some pastors have their personal businesses. It was not all of them that received tithes and became rich. If Bill Gates was a pastor, you would have included his name and worth here not considering the fact that he has his personal job. David
DeleteThis is one of the problems with black people especially Nigerians. The white man brought christianity, you see how they practice it and you black man, born of poverty, with poverty of the mind, body, soul and spirit want to enrich yourselves and misinterpret the Bible just to satisfy yourself and now say no right thinking person who can see through you and not scared to call you out should keep quiet and let you continue stealing the people blind? How is that going to be possible? It is akin to saying we should let politicians and military men keep stealing the treasury blind and we should keep quiet because we are not in government. Who the hell does this fool called Johnson think he is? We all read the Bible or is he saying the Bible he is reading because he calls himself a pastor is different from the one everyone else reads? All those who have ears, let them hear. All those who have eyes, shine your eyes. These rogue pastors are cleaning you out. Let them go and apply for normal jobs and join the hustle. Abeg freeze, continue jor. I am behind you one million percent. When it is time, I will join your crusade too.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who has truly read the Bible understands that the only way to give back to God is to help the poor and those who ordinarily cannot pay you back. The church of God is not a building but in the hearts of those who believe the truth of the Word, Jesus. Read your Bible and the truth shall set you free from ignorance and bondage. It costs money to run church(place of gathering of believers), but the church should never be richer than the people it represents. This is the case today and it’s sad. Travel to the west and see how churches are run. Churches help the people. In Nigeria, it is most likely that your Pastor will never call you again when you change church. Who are we deceiving? I pray for the spirit of discernment for all.
